Hello to all here, there, and everywhere in between! We’re hard at work on the new record (as you can see in this ‘meeting of the minds’ pic) and can’t wait to share some of the new material with you. We have a few festivals this summer where you can see/hear us play new and old songs alike and hope you enjoy the new material as much as we have enjoyed recording it. And with it brings a very special show in Denton, TX Saturday April 16th at Dan’s Silverleaf. The great Jason Lytle (Grandaddy) will be coming to our great city to play a show and since we just couldn’t stand to have him here and not at least ask to join him (he luckily said yes!), we’ll be his backing band! The night is sure to be filled with some special treats and surprises for all those in attendance…and it will be a one time only show, so if a ‘Grandlake’ sandwich tickles your fancy, be there! If you dare to accept such a mission, tickets are available HERE.

Midlake has joined the ranks of the great line-up set to play Electric Picnic Festival September 2-4, 2011 in Ireland. Among the others announced are Arcade Fire, PJ Harvey, and Interpol to name a few. We’ll be sure to have our picnic baskets in tote filled with several new Midlake tunes! Hope to see you there…

Yes indeedy, it is true…Midlake will perform as John Grant’s backing band at this year’s SXSW in Austin, TX! For the first time ever, Midlake will be playing songs off John’s critically acclaimed ‘Queen of Denmark‘, recorded and produced with Midlake in Denton, TX. If you’re attending SXSW this year, be sure to see this rare event in the flesh and if not, there’s always youtube : ) Incidentally, John will be performing at Denton’s 35 Conferette this week and Midlake just might be joining John for a few songs there as well…

After a decade of compilations by the likes of The Flaming Lips, Groove Armada, Belle & Sebastian, Cinematic Orchestra, Air and Arctic Monkeys, 2011 looks to be another remarkably successful year for Late Night Tales as Midlake add their edition to the mix.

Slated for release on April 4, 2011, the compilation consists of carefully selected tracks that certainly make up one of the most enchanting and captivating track listings in Late Night Tales history. Journeying across the plains of North America, the wilds of the British Isles and fleeting visits to Holland and Iceland, Midlake’s Late Night Tales is a voyage through all that mesmerises. Incorporating tracks from the likes of deeply seductive vocalist Scott Walker to Bjork (a frequent among the Late Night Tales compilations) Midlake’s instalment certainly does not disappoint.

As with all Late Night Tales instalments, Midlake add their own unique twist to the compilation with their exclusive and much honoured acoustic cover of Black Sabbath’s ‘Am I Going Insane’. And on top of it all, Will Self draws the compilation to a close with the final part of his spoken word short story, ‘The Happy Detective’.

With a highly anticipated new album in the pipeline and a grand return to End of the Road Festival later in the year, Midlake are a welcomed addition to the diversely talented Late Night Tales family.

We don’t usually break from our hermitic ways while recording, but we’re going to make an exception and poke our heads out to play a show with friends Band of Horses April 7th in Dallas, TX at The Verizon Theater. We missed Dallas this past year on tour, so we look forward to getting down there and trying out some new songs and songs of yore for our local fans, friends and family! We hope to see you there…
